Pictures Coming Soon...
Before the Civil War, George Close built a home by the name of the Westfield House. He ran it there for three or four years before it changed hands many times until 1882. J. Wesley Smith purcased it and in 1890, he rebuilt every aspect of it. "Free bus service to and from all trains is at the disposal of guests whose comfort and pleasures are ever first in mind." The name stayed the same, Smith Hotel, although it changed hands many more times. In 1912, it was bought by Herman and Della Behrman and George and Bertha Behrman. The partnership was ended by 1937 when the third floor was destroyed by fire because of faulty wiring. The first and second floors were also damaged badly. The hotel was repaired but the third floor was not added. In 1966, it was purchased by Cecil Brehaney and Charles Paddock.
